TopHat are delivering a supply and install service of 4 bedroom town houses as part of the regeneration of this former hospital site, parts of which are listed and being developed traditionally.
Fitting in with the local vernacular was never more important than on the old Somerfield Hospital site in Maidstone. Sensitively building modern townhouses right next door to a listed building would be a challenge for some but TopHat’s proprietary, 3D printed cladding easily melds the old with the new.
The original Smeed Dean London Stock brick was matched carefully and a ‘stone’ band was created to mimic the existing buildings. Not only does this look great and in context but the cladding is created using c20% of the carbon of a traditional brick. This system is unique to TopHat and comes with full Class A certification.
