As a Process Engineer you will be responsible for providing technical direction to all phases of the TopHat home manufacturing process (including prototypes) in order to fulfil customer demand requirements.

The Process Engineer will be responsible for:
1. Manage the prototype home builds getting hands-on to ensure complete familiarity with product range.
2. Make recommendations to improve prototype build by conducting trials, testing samples, determining costs, and documenting results.
3. Contribute to manufacturing specifications/SOPs by compiling and maintaining product and process information including Engineering Drawing systems.
4. Provide detailed analysis and design of assembly processes that accurately reflect product drawings, specifications and manufacturing considerations.
5. Establish detailed and accurate production processes based on project schedules and specifications/design variances.
6. Work effectively with TopHat (Design and Sales) and Derby team to enable optimum and most cost-effective production solutions.
7. Assist in compiling design reports and other engineering documentation.
8. Produce process control functional specifications.
9. Produce process flow diagrams.
10. Manage project results, timing and costs.
11. Test systems are working correctly and identifying and repairing faults.
12. Make recommendations of best practice or alternative processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvements by reducing cycle times, process variations, defects, set up times etc.
13. Deliver completed modules within specified timeframes.
14. Train and develop production crew to high level of competence and providing technical assistance during the manufacturing process.
15. Create quality supporting data to demonstrate productivity, manning and throughput.
16. Keep abreast of current industry practice, new equipment etc.
17. Lead and support improvement projects using LEAN deployment, 5S, 6S and Continuous Improvement.
18. Ensure compliance with all statutory HSE requirements and TopHat specific initiatives.
19. Produce and implement maintenance schedules.

Functional Skills and Experiences

1. Minimum HND/HNC in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering
2. Good understanding of 5S, Lean/6 Sigma and Continuous Improvement
3. Excellent IT skills and knowledge/practical experience of CAD
4. Experience of PFMEA and Control Plans is required
5. Extensive experience in the Production /Process Engineering sector preferably in modular buildings
6. Proven track record in improving safety, quality, delivery and cost performance – development and implementation of process control
7. Be confident at understanding technical drawings
8. A proven track record in process design with the ability to design a robust production process capable of meeting volume targets and quality/cost/delivery measures
9. Previous involvement in NIP and NPD processes
